I can't believe it has been a whole year since this sweet little girl came into our lives. We had so much celebrating with her today...from opening gifts to tearing into her own little cake (which she didn't really care for, by the way). We truly didn't have to ask these two to laugh...not once. They had plenty of inside jokes which kept them full of smiles throughout the shoot (and us too). For instance, "good morning"... I don't know what it means but they seemed to think it was pretty darn funny.

One more thing.. they are also full of human tricks. But, those have to be captured by video... so we will have to save that for another day.

Something different happened at this wedding. We usually walk into a wedding with plans of capturing the bride getting ready. This time Emily was taking care of everyone else. It was a sweet moment watching her selflessly give to her best girls.

And Jerrod is one in the same. He has such a calm, sweet spirit about him.

Their wedding was filled with many people who love Jesus! This was evident to us as we walked around and joined in on conversations..

This weekend, we are heading down to Harlingen, home of the HHS cardinals, Marine Military Acadamy and the best mexican food ever. We are actually bridesmaids in a friend's wedding. It will be so different to be on the other side of the camera for a change.

Shooting receptions used to scare us a little, we won't lie. Lighting is a wild card every time. Not being able to control that can be a little frightening. It's amazing what you can do though, with a some off camera lighting. Thanks to some techniques we have learned over the past year and a half, we now think receptions are fun. We love it!!
Here are some from a recent reception in Austin. Carley and Mike are both Aggies and former fish camp counselors. For all of you who have been to fish camp, you can imagine what it was like being around them and all their friends! We had so much fun at their reception. Doesn't it look like fun?!

What a difference 8 months makes...

So, Caroline turned 8 months old on July 1st. Isn't it crazy?!?! It's funny how it can feel
like just yesterday she got here, while still feeling like we have known her forever!
Everyday is brand new, and we are loving every single minute of watching her grow up.
She is this little, tiny person with her own unique personality and her future before her.

Meet our new friends! We had so much fun with these two while we were in Mexico. They were actually guests at the wedding (those pictures to come later) we photographed. Everybody else left Sunday morning...except for us and Chap and Kathy. We swam, ate and laughed together for a whole 24 hours! They even crashed our Sunday evening dinner for two reservations which was a welcomed treat. We all got a kick out of the place card on our table that said "Mrs. and Mrs. Finch." Funny, right?!?!
Anyways, we snapped a few shots of them on the beach. Here they are, along with a few others of Playa.

Seniors Part One

I remember back in 1997 walking into the high school cafeteria with no make-up, wet hair, my wind pants unzipped at the ankles, and a triple XL t-shirt. This was the daily routine for me. :)
Pretty sure this does not happen in high school cafeterias anymore! (Maybe it never did, maybe it was just me :) )
The seniors we are meeting these days are the coolest of cool... They are fun, confident, & unique.

A Post before Mexico

We fly out in the morning to shoot a wedding in Mexico! Playa Del Carmen, to be exact. We are so exited, and we can't wait to share the details when we get back. In the meantime, here is a new post...

Sara and Jonathan got married at the end of February, but decided to wait a couple of months to do their portrait session. We shot these in New Braunfels. A bride and groom, great light, and two whole hours to experiment...you can't beat that!

So, we have always known we weren't the best bloggers around. Recently, though it has been down right awful! We have been soooo busy with wedding season and life in general. We did our first destination wedding right outside of Santa Barbara, California..which was awesome (those pictures to come soon). We have been shooting lots more seniors...so exciting! Our good friend Amy had us come to the hospital to capture some of her first moments with baby Jay. And...we have some new ideas in the works.

Love Affair

It's true... Photography is definitely a love affair. I had never thought about it that way until we attended the Love Affair Workshop. We are soooo extremely passionate about photography because we love what we do! We both feel so blessed to have found a job which allows us creativity, freedom, and fun!! But, we have also found that it has taken over our lives..every moment of it! We find ourselves spending hours upon hours searching for lighting techniques, looking at other photographer's blogs, or simply just working on our client's pictures. It truly has become our love affair...and one in which we weren't willing to give up!

Pretty sad..huh?

After attending the workshop this past week in North Carolina, we have found that we are definitely not the only ones finding ourselves in this situation. The great news is we spent a ton of time at the workshop learning how to balance daily life with running a photography business... We are super excited about the ideas that these four wonderful women shared with us. Each photographer brought a different perspective to the table and now we are making a plan that will work for the girls at Anne Marie :)

Danielle

This is sweet Danielle. She is actually my sister-in-law and I am so blessed to have her in my life. :)

On the day of her shoot, Traci & I rolled out of bed at about 7 AM.. I must say, we didn't look so hot. But, that's the joy of shooting family. They definitely don't care if wear our sweats to their portraits.

Now, Danielle on the other hand, looked mighty fine in her cute little outfits. She was also a ton of fun and full of laughter...
That was mostly due to her mom's crazy dance moves.. I have never seen anything like it.. but I would love to get it on video to show at the next family reunion! We may have to hire her for all of our shoots.

10 weeks!

We put Caroline through a mini photoshoot yesterday on her 10 week birthday. I can't believe how fast she is growing. Every single day is full of new surprises...my favorite being her new desire to sleep longer at night. She is sleeping like a rock star...7 hour stretches and then another 3 or 4. Would you believe I have to waker her up most mornings?!?!

Being up for about 45 minutes each night still takes it out of me, but I will count my blessings!!

This little chick looks just like her daddy. Most of you have never seen my husband, but take my word for this one ;) One day I will have to post a picture of him. Oh, and props to Lindsey Brittain for the hoodie idea!

Traci's Shower

About 2 weeks ago, we threw a shower for Traci in our hometown of Harlingen. I believe they call it a "sip and see'.. This is where the baby is invited too! It was so much fun & Baby Caroline received tons of great books for her library..She is going to have some crazy reading skills when she enters kindergarten.

Anyhow, the bad news about this post is that when Traci & I are not working, we become extremely lazy with the camera.... So, we left the shower with the following 4 pictures!

I forgot how much fun these two were until we were re-united at their engagement session. Honestly, that first meeting with them was possibly one of the most fun times in my life.. Well, I guess that is a little extreme..but I do remember laughing hysterically as if we were all old friends..(Jessica included).

The only problem we ran into with these two, was my lack of proper pronunciation.. Yes, it's true..I have yet to pronounce the groom's name right! So, we just call him E..

And Angelica..she is a great girl. So sweet, so thoughtful!! The first thing she said to me on her wedding day was "How is Traci?" Always thinking of others..

That brings up my next point... Traci was not able to be at Angelica & E's wedding because she was hours away from delivering baby Caroline (we thought). So, my good friends Lindsey & Ali shot with me.

The 3rd collage (cake & flowers) is actually all Lindsey. Great details..huh?

Sweet Caroline

She is finally here! Traci went in for a check-up on Wednesday morning.. Then, the plan was to head to New Braunfels for a work-day & lunch! Plans changed quickly when the midwife informed Traci to make her way over to the hospital because she needed to be induced. Caroline must have been comfy inside her sweet mama....because she didn't arrive until 6:57 a.m. this morning. She is the most precious little thing.. and she is already so loved!! Thanks to all who have been praying for Traci, Jonathan, and sweet Baby Caroline. I know that they truly appreciate it..

P.S. Traci will be adding some more pics soon. I just picked a couple of my favorites but I wanted to let her choose the rest. :)

Heather & Steven...Southwest School of Art and Craft

We had a blast at Heather and Steven's wedding. These two live in DC, so they planned the entire thing from there...with lots of help from our good friend Wendee at Lucie's Events who was the coordinator. They opted to see each other before their wedding so two things happened: 1. They were able to have a very intimate moment together before seeing anyone else (which we got pictures of) and 2. We had plenty of time to get some great images for them of their wedding party and of the two of them. We hope they will enjoy these for a lifetime!

After the ceremony, we wrapped up the last minute family photos and they were able to get into their reception without much delay.

36th Street Baby

About a month and a half ago, we had the honor of shooting maternity portraits for Resha from 36th Street Events, out of Austin. We love working with Lindy and Resha at weddings, but this was a nice change of scenery...just hanging out and capturing some memories for her and her husband before that sweet baby arrives.
Is she not the cutest pregnant girl you ever saw!?!?!

Natalie & Josh

Labor day weekend was a crazy one for the two of us. It started with a wedding in San Antonio on Friday, one in Roundrock on Saturday, and then off to Dallas for Natalie's wedding on Sunday. Natalie is one of our very best friends from the high school days. We weren't able to shoot Natalie's actual wedding day because bridesmaid duty called. We were, however, asked to capture our favorite part... getting ready!!

The bad news is... we got lost in Dallas and didn't quite make it in time to get shots of Natalie getting dressed. We also took it easy at the reception so we only have 3 pics to show. It was a nice break for us though and we were excited to be able to spend time with old friends.

Now on to Natalie and Josh. (They are the important ones here!)

Natalie's youth leader, David, officiated the ceremony. (along with Josh's grandpa!)
During his sermon he said, "if my daughters turn out to be anything like you, i would be one happy man!" As he said this, I wondered how many other fathers in the room were thinking the exact same thing. Natalie is one of the most genuine, most faithful, and most wise young girls that I have ever met. She has such a strong desire to serve the Lord and to glorify Him in her daily life. She truly is a blessing to the both of us and we are so grateful that she is a part of our lives!

Josh, we haven't forgotten about you.. :)

Josh builds up and encourages Natalie, just as a Christian husband should. It has been fun to watch the interaction between them as they have gone from friends to husband & wife!

Romans 12:1-2 encourages Christians to be living sacrifices for the Lord. Josh definitely shares his love for the Lord by serving and sacrificing for others! And I am confident that this will carry over into his marriage!

So, we’ve recently been made aware that there is a new trend in the photography blogging world. It’s a little game of “TAG.” We’ve been tagged by two of our photo friends Melissa Breedlove and Jennifer Nichols. So, this little game of tag requires that we share eight facts about ourselves, then tag other photographers. So, here it goes.

About Kellie:

1. I get out of the shower completely wet. It is hard to explain. I do use a towel but mostly it's just for looks. I wrap it around my body but I actually just air dry. It takes quite a while.
(Once my college roommates actually made a video about it). Weird..huh?

2. I married my high school boyfriend. We dated for 7 years before we actually tied the knot.
We were married on July 17th, 2004.

3. I can count on both hands how many times a year I actually wear my hair down. It takes too much time to blow-dry.. I just can't seem to make it a priority in my life.

4. Until about 3 weeks ago, I was not only a photographer but a kindergarten teacher as well.
I taught at Lamar Primary in New Braunfels for 5 years! I put in my resignation in order to devote more time to photography.

About Traci:
1. My favorite food is french fries. I can't get enough.

2. I am terrified of lizzards. Not like most people are scared of roaches...more like how people are scared of sharks. They absolutely make my skin crawl. I have nightmares about them. I can't go in my house if one is sitting on the porch. It's not healthy actually...still trying to get to the bottom of this one.

3. I have worked the last couple of years, part time for a non-profit organization that aids women who find themselves in crisis pregnancies. I love everything about this organization...the love and grace of Christ are the cornerstones. I have a passion for people and ministry and hope to be involved in one way or another for the rest of my life.

4. I will give birth to a sweet baby girl named Caroline at the end of October. It is our first child, and we can't wait. Her name is Caroline, in part because we love the name and in part because we dated and fell in love in North Carolina...awwwww.

It seems like for the spring of 2008 we are starting to book some more weddings in San Antonio.
Of course we still have a great love for Austin, but it will be nice to be close to home.
We were thinking about some of the amazing vendors that we have worked with recently and definitely wanted to let our blog readers know about their services.

First of all, of course we LOVE Travis at BTL productions. If you are looking for a videographer..he is your man. We have worked with Travis on numerous occasions and we have always been so impressed with his work. Of course, we also love the fact that he is an Aggie!

We also have a new love for a wedding coordinator in San Antonio, Katherine with Elegant Events. We worked with Katherine at Sam and Brian's wedding on August 11th. First of all, she has to be the cutest girl you have even seen! She also did a fabulous job coordinating their wedding; we were so impressed with her execution on the big day.

We are also waiting for the day when we get to work with Elite Video Productions. Their website is amazing. You should definitely take a look!

This had to be the most amazing wedding that we have ever been to. Sam has the most incredible taste and if any of you girls are considering hiring a coordinator, she should be your girl! She is so extremely talented. More to come from the actual wedding day soon.

Well, we have been absolutely swamped. The summers are always madness with so many weddings, portraits, and of course vacation ;) Sorry for the delay in updating the blog, but we are back and comitted to updating more regulary!

This shoot was a blast...cool place, great couple, what more can you ask for. Amy and Ryan are getting married on October 13th. We can't wait for their wedding. Don't they look like so much fun?!?!

Day 2 ..Rainy Day Bridals

Same story...different bride! Once again, we were bummed about it raining outside and our bride could not re-schedule. In the end, we were so thankful to Amy (bride at the capital) and Ali, both of whom pushed us outside of our comfort zone. We must say we are definitely pleased with the results. And the rain let up long enough, so that we could get some outside shots as well.

It definitely would not have worked out so well without Ali's friend, Vicky Carragher, who works as a wedding coordinator the Westin La Cantera. Because of this amazing girl, we got to shoot inside the Hotel Valencia for free! They even comped our valet for us!! If you are planning a wedding, you should definitely shoot her an email.

Oh and Ali is getting married in Cabo in August. What a cool bride.. with a cool dress..

We just wish we could be there on the day of to capture the wedding. Ali, have you changed your mind yet about flying us out there?

Bridals On A Rainy Day...

We have to say we were bummed when it was raining on the day of Amy's bridal shoot. There was no way she could reschedule, so she suggested that we do them inside the capital. Reluctantly, we agreed but had no idea what awaited us. There are some pretty great places to shoot in there...we had no idea! What we thought was going to be not much fun turned into a very successful shoot...it also helps that Amy has that model's look in her eye. Her wedding is this weekend and we can't wait!

Meet Bradlee. She has to be the cutest 1 year old around. Kellie, Bradlee's mom, is a good friend of ours and she hired us to do pictures for Bradlee's 1st birthday. Bradlee's Gigi (grandma) also came along for the trip to keep her entertained. (She did a fabulous job by the way) We only wished that Aunt Danni had been there too. :(

We were having such a great time taking pictures of this cute kiddo that we even followed her home!! She was a good sport and we got some great shots. Thanks Kellie and Brad for giving us the opportunity to take pictures of your beautiful baby girl. We love you guys.

This could be our new favorite thing! Tamarra and Eric opted for a pre-wedding shoot a couple days before their wedding. This definitely allowed more time on the actual wedding day for the bride and groom to spend with their friends and family. The groom had some serious dance moves.. don't you agree?

The bridesmaid's did a cake pull where they each pull a charm out of the bride's cake. Cute idea!

Second Line...This definitely was the coolest exit we have ever seen! A jazz trio lead Danielle and Chris around their reception hall and out to their carriage. They were followed by their guests as they also danced around the reception hall waving napkins at the bride and groom.

This wedding was so much fun to shoot. You can tell by the way they look at each other that Danielle and Chris are so in love! The Ceremony was amazing and so God honoring. We always love that too. If you haven't been to the Southwest School of Art and Craft, you have to check it out. It is one of the most beautiful venues in San Antonio. Hope you like ;)

So...back in February we attended a Kelly Moore workshop (which we absolutely loved!!) and learned some amazing stuff. We just purchased some lights she introduced us to and are sooo excited to start using them! Here are some of the pictures we took while at the Love Addict Seminar. It is amazing what you can do with a few lights to create a really dramatic and intimate look.

We had so much fun at this wedding for several reasons. Laura and Michael were a blast...of course, aren't all of our couples ;) We got to work with Resha of 36th Street Weddings again, which we love. And...we had the priviledge of shooting at a new venue. Mandola Estate Winery is so beautiful. Everyone who works there was so friendly and the food was great. We know they will do really well!
